Srinjoy’s composition begins with a bold, high-contrast portrait rendered with photographic clarity. Over that foundation, he applies sculptural layers of long, vertical resin drips and hand-painted bands that both veil and reveal. The molten strips of pigment act like a prism; they fracture the image into fragments of color, create a sense of depth, and demand a careful second look. The crown remains visible but altered, a potent symbol reframed by the artist’s signature intervention.
The result is at once glamorous and destabilizing. By interrupting the portrait with deliberate materiality, Srinjoy asks how icons are constructed, consumed, and remembered in our visually saturated culture. The work reads as both homage and critique, playful in its pop energy and rigorous in its craft. It makes a vivid statement on identity, legacy, and the slippery border between image and object.
