Woman With Cushion

Salvador Dalí
The Hippies – Woman with Cushion (Femme au Coussin),1969
ML/Argillet #387; Fields # 69-13 J
Original drypoint etching with hand coloring on archival paper.
Hand-signed and numbered at the lower margins.

In 1969, Pierre Argillet came back from India with many photographs, which Dalí used as groundwork to create a series entitled “Les Hippies,” his own interpretation of the “Love and Peace” years. The etchings reveal the artist’s superb, spontaneous, and consummate technique at the peak of his maturity. Outlandish, surrealist characters or situations appear through intricate whirls or golden halos. © The Argillet Collection.
