Peter Max has used his creative talents to serve important environmental causes since the 1960s. The artist created his ‘Without Borders’ painting for Ted Turner’s ‘Without Borders’ documentary. The documentary explored five of the world’s major rivers and the life they sustain. The film and Max’s art helped raise awareness of the health of the Amazon, other great rivers, the rainforest, and our environment in the late 1980s.

In Max’s ‘Without Borders’ painting, a sailboat glides to the Amazon River as the day’s light fades behind the lush horizon. Painted in a flourish of expressionistic brushwork and a high-contrast color palette on canvas, this is one of the artist’s celebrated works for environmental causes, which he has been passionate about throughout his career. ©ALP, Inc.
