Meeting of Minds or sometimes called Grandpa’s Little Ballerina was featured on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post on February 3, 1923.  An interaction between the older and younger generation coming together in joy over music. The grandfather is a little on the heavy side, his stool is scuffed up, and his cello has a few dents and scratches on it. The little girl’s clothes are far from perfect with her stockings scrunched up, her bloomers peeking out under her short skirt, which she has definitely outgrown and has turned a greyish white, and her red jacket has a few holes in it. The work has a beautiful air of sophistication and dignity that all the minor details of their station in life are forgotten. Music has lifted them up. The title “Meeting of Minds” could also indicate this as music has given these two with a huge generational gap between them, an opportunity to bond. Rockwell has managed to create not an idealized scene but an ideal one.
