Malcolm T. Liepke is an American painter known for his loosely brushed yet nimbly executed depictions of figures in interior settings. His work is often characterized by its intimacy, sensuality, and psychological depth. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1953, Liepke studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles but dropped out after a year and a half. He moved to New York and began studying, on his own, artists such as John Singer Sargent, Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Diego Velázquez, James McNeill Whistler, and Édouard Vuillard.
