Through the darkness, A light will shine, Forever, Through the mists and storm, Of time.
This thought-provoking sculpture transports viewers to a scene of reflection. Symbolism abounds… the couple sitting together at the edge of a slightly fragile jetty, cradling their shared love, around them hearts are carried along the water, the tide of time carrying love into the world. A barren, windswept tree emerges from rocky ground, bare of leaves but with gleaming hearts hanging from its branches. Each heart is individually hand polished and meticulously crafted, venturing into territories new, Mackenzie has experimented with different coloured patinas, layering and layering until all the elements are unique. ‘A Light In The Storm’ reminds us that love can weather any storm and remain a constant guiding force.“I wanted this sculpture to intertwine with the elements of nature and human emotion.  A nod to life’s long journey, through hardship and loss, there still remains hope and love.” — Mackenzie Thorpe.
