Carrie Swim

Houston-born Carrie Swim has always embraced creativity, using every tool at her disposal to convey messages about life's wonders and challenges. Driven by curiosity and a deep empathy for humanity, she translates the beauty found in pressure and transformation into her art.

 Swim's signature style, lyrical abstraction, is influenced by both movement and sound. Her paintings represent a continually evolving visual language, drawing on her classical training in drawing, painting, and printmaking, which she acquired through her BFA at Baylor University and her studies in Italy. During her Master's program at the University of Kansas and her subsequent career in New York, she refined her ability to capture the essence of human experience through abstraction.

At the heart of Swim's work is a unique process she calls "body painting." In this method, she becomes one with the canvas, using her body as a brush to translate movement, sound, and spirit into layers of color and form.
